Foreclosure Prevention
Foreclosure has been a frequently used word among St. Lucie County Residents. The foreclosure rate tripled in October 2007 for St. Lucie County alone. It was also reported that just in Florida there was one foreclosure filing for every 273 households. At that time, a total of 224,451 foreclosure filings have been reported which ranked Florida as the third highest nationwide. (Click here for the Oct. 2007 TC Palm article referenced above)
At the end of 2009 foreclosures continued to increase but at a slower rate. It may not have been the best news for St. Lucie County residents, although it helped to take some pressure off, the focus has now shifted to employment opportunites decreasing and layoffs.
