June 25, 2005 - Businesses Urged To Report Economic Loss Before July 13

FORT PIERCE - The St. Lucie County Department of Public Safety/Division of Emergency Management is seeking economic damage information from all area businesses affected by the current 2007 drought conditions. The information gathered will help The Florida Division of Emergency Management determine whether St. Lucie County may be eligible to receive federal disaster assistance.

"Because of the short deadline of July 13, 2007 given by the State, we are asking business owners to contact us today so we can better understand the level of loss from the ongoing drought," said Tom Christopher, emergency management coordinator with St. Lucie County's Division of Emergency Management.

Any business experiencing a significant, uninsured loss of revenue, 40 percent or greater when compared from Jan. 1 - June 30, 2006 to Jan. 1 -June 30, 2007, as a result of the recent drought are being asked to contact St. Lucie County Division of Emergency Management by calling (772) 461-5201.
