June 17, 2005 - Law Enforcement to Closely Monitor Traffic on Indian River Drive

Beginning Wednesday, June 22, St. Lucie County Sheriff's Deputies will closely monitor traffic on Indian River Drive at three checkpoints. Due to the Phase II Revegetation Project that is occurring, only residents, contractors and vehicles with business on Indian River Drive will be allowed to travel through the checkpoints at the Martin county line, at Walton Road and at Midway Road. County officials expect the law enforcement officers to be in place through end of the Phase II project.

Residents of Indian River Drive may still sign the license agreement to participate in the Phase II Revegetation Project. All license agreements should be returned to the County no later than July 15, 2005. This date was chosen because some of the plants being used for this project have to be grown in order to meet the numbers and specifications of the planting plan. License agreements received after this date cannot be considered. The license agreement can be downloaded from the County's Environmental Resources Division website at http://co.st-lucie.fl.us/erd/ird/index.htm or by calling Vanessa Bessey at (772) 462-2526.
