Tuesday, November 25, 2008 - Fort Pierce Library Announces December Wednesday Matinees

The Fort Pierce Branch Library announces its ''Wednesday Matinee'' lineup for December with a selection of holiday-themed movies. Held every Wednesday, the library will present a free film, starting at 2 p.m.
  • Dec. 3 - ''Santa Claus the Movie' (1985) featuring Dudley Moore and John Lithgow. This is the delightful story of a master toymaker who discovers a magical kingdom of elves at the North Pole. Running time: 107 minutes.
  • Dec. 10 - ''Miracle on 34th Street'' (1947) A little girl discovers dreams can come true if you really believe. Running time: 96 minutes.
  • Dec. 17 - ''Christmas Vacation'' (1989) featuring Chevy Chase. It's Christmastime for the Griswolds.  A season for giving, Yuletide carols, Christmas tree lights glowing brightly…hey, wait, this one’s not glowing. It's on fire. Running time: 97 minutes.
  • Dec. 24 - ''March of the Wooden Soldiers'' (1934) featuring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Originally titled ''Babes in Toyland'' and based on Victor Herbert's operetta, this highly rated comedy/fantasy stars Laurel and Hardy as do-gooders trying to help the people of Toyland fight an evil villain. Running time: 77 minutes.
  • Dec. 31 - ''It's A Wonderful Life'' (1946) featuring James Stewart and Donna Reed. Frank Capra’s classic tale of George Bailey and his Christmas Eve visit with a guardian angel. Running time: 130 minutes.
