Monday, November 2, 2009 - Tourist Development Council Announces New Capital Grant Program
The St. Lucie County Tourist Development Council (TDC) is pleased to announce that the 2009-10 capital grant applications are now available for not-for-profit organizations and local government organizations within St. Lucie County located north of Midway Road. The grant applications are due to the county's Tourism Office by Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at 5 p.m. At the Wednesday, Feb. 10 meeting, the TDC will evaluate and recommend to the Board of County Commissioners which applications should be funded. The total amount of funds available through the TDC capital grant program is $411,453. These funds are generated through a portion of the five percent ''bed tax'' which is paid by visitors staying overnight in hotels, RV parks and condos located in St. Lucie County.Applications can be obtained at the county's Tourism Office, located at 2300 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, Fla., 34982 or by requesting an electronic version to be emailed by calling (772) 462-1539 or emailing lombardc@stlucieco.org.
