Thursday, May 20, 2010 - Morningside Library Host Genealogy/History Series On New Day

Local historian and genealogist Patti Kirk continues her Genealogy History Series at the Morningside Branch Library for June on new regularly scheduled days.

The series will now take place on the first and third Wednesday of each month starting in June. However, Kirk will take a break from the program during July and August.

  • Wednesday, June 2 from 9:45 - 11:45 a.m. - Genealogy Class: “GenealogyBank.com" - learn more about this website which allows users to search for information about their ancestors from newspaper articles from the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s, including obituaries. 
  • Wednesday, June 2 from 1:30 - 3 p.m. - History Lecture: "Helmira Prison Camp" - come listen to the tale of Elmira, New York; home of a prison camp for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War.
  • Wednesday, June 16 from 9:45 - 11:45 a.m. - Genealogy Class: "City Directories" - learn how to follow your ancestors' life from year to year, including name, address and occupation using city directories.
