Tuesday, June 8, 2010 - County Commissioners Earn Three NACO Achievement Awards
The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners earned three 2010 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties' (NACo) 41st annual Achievement Awards program.St. Lucie County won Achievement Awards for programs in the following areas:
- St. Lucie County's Local Economic Stimulus Program - Community/Economic Development
- Florida Scrub Jay Action Plan at the St. Lucie County International Airport - Environmental Protection and Energy
- SLCTV Video Public Service Announcement Grant Program - Civic Education and Public Information
"The Board of County Commissioners is aware of all the hard work that is put forth by the County staff to make these programs successful, so it is extremely rewarding to see that our programs have been recognized by our peers on a national level," said St. Lucie County Commission Chairman Charles Grande.
NACo's Achievement Awards recognize innovated programs development by counties in 21 different categories. Award winners were announced last week.
The National Association of Counties (NACo) is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States.
