Friday, June 11, 2010 - County Lifeguard Hopes To Win Pepsi Refresh Project

Lincoln Park High School senior and St. Lucie County Parks and Recreation Lifeguard Lindsey Bordner is hoping to win a $25,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project to promote drowning prevention in St. Lucie County. And local residents can help her by voting online.

Bordner has submitted a grant application to the Pepsi Refresh Project to provide up to 200 free swimming lessons to St. Lucie County residents and create jobs for lifeguards and water safety instructors. She has worked as a lifeguard for St. Lucie County’s Parks & Recreation Department for the past two summers.

Pepsi will award grants to the top 10 applications, which will be decided based on the total number of online votes. To review and vote for Bordner's grant application, "Swim Safe St. Lucie," visit: http://www.refresheverything.com/swimlessonstosavelives?utm_source=email.

Pepsi is giving away $1.3 million each month to fund great ideas through its Refresh Project. Voting for Bordner's idea ends Thursday, June 30. Residents can vote daily.
